Year 1-Remote Learning Page

This is the page that we will be using for Remote Learning this year. This could be in the form whole class/school closure due to a Covid-19 outbreak, or for individuals who have to isolate when waiting for a test or following a positive test in the household. A letter about our Remote Education this year, along with login codes for various platforms and an exercise book were all sent home earlier in the year.

As you know, we have been doing achievement day every Friday. So I thought it would be good for us to share some of our achievements on the zoom call. You could share one or two things you are proud of doing this week or over half term.

Please be ready for this and have something you want to share.

The meeting will take the same format as last time:

-Please change the username to your child’s name

-I will mute everyone to take the register.

-We will stay muted to reduce background noise

Topic: Please go to seesaw for your task. Today is a bit different. It is Safer Internet Day today! So we will be looking at different ways we can keep ourselves safe when we are online. There is a short video input from me and then 2 videos to watch (please see the links to the videos on seesaw). Then please go to seesaw to complete some questions about what you have learnt.

Please remember to check Parent Pay for the Zoom permission form. On Wednesday we will be hosting a live zoom call for Year 1! I am so excited to get everyone back together virtually. I will be sending out some more information about this session soon.

Our Year 1 zoom call will be held at 10 am on Wednesday 10th February. I will be in school with the Year 1 bubble and we are hoping you can all join us!

Please ensure you have given permission if you could like to join us and ensure you have read and understand the Zoom code of conduct in advance. Please also share this information with your child so they understand too.

There is then a few questions to answer about the dance and a Chinese lion mask to colour in. Some upcoming activities which you might want to prepare for:

Mrs Wilkinson is going to make oatmeal cookies with the red bubble on Thursday. So we thought you might like to give it a go yourself at home too. Mrs Wilkinson will set instructions on Thursday but if you would like to take part, please see the PDF file below with the list of ingredients. This was also posted onto seesaw last Friday by Mrs Wilkinson.

 

I will allocate new books on bug club on Monday evening.

Just so you are aware, I am working in school on Monday and Wednesday.

Well done for all your hard work yesterday. I really enjoyed seeing all your videos reciting the poem, it really cheered me up on a rainy day!

You will also be looking for the rhyming words in the poem and explaining what rhyming pattern is used.

Hello Team Soyuz!

I hope you all had a nice weekend after a long week of working hard!

I just wanted to say I have been so impressed to see how hard you are all working at home. I feel very lucky to be the new teacher of such a fantastic class full of children who work hard and send me lots of pictures, videos and voice recordings! I also wanted to thank all our wonderful parents/carers who have been supporting your learning at home for 3 weeks now! Thank you so much parents/carers, you are all doing an amazing job and we appreciate all you efforts.

This week I am working in school on Monday and Wednesday.

Well done your completing your first day of remote learning in 2021! You all did a great job! Here is the information about your tasks for today.

Phonics: Please go to seesaw to see your task. There is an input video to watch. This video will recap the ai sounds with alternative spellings.

Then complete the task on seesaw (similar to yesterday’s task). You will need to sort the words into the correct ai sound spelling.

 

Reading: Go to seesaw to find this task. Please re-watch the video of me reading the story about the Chinese New Year. Your task has 3 parts:

  • Sequence the events from the story (pictures)
  • Sequence the events from the story (words)
  • Explain what happened in the story at a given event.

Maths: Go to seesaw for your task. Today you will recap the 3D shapes by watching the BBC video. Then watch the new video which will introduce how we can sort shapes.
